Abstract

This literature review discusses some of the most significant theories regarding the origin of endometriosis. Most of the evidence suggests that endometriosis is a multifactorial pathology involving multiple genetic and environmental influences. Some authors call endometriosis a “disease of theories”, taking into account numerous past and current etiopathogenetic hypotheses put forward over a long period of attempts to explain its nature [C Amalinei et.all., 2018].
