Regionalism in Central Asia: Theoretical Approaches, Regional Evolution, and External Actors

Abstract

This article examines the evolution of regionalism in Central Asia through major theoretical approaches and the changing dynamics of regional cooperation. It explores the conceptual distinctions between regionalism, regionalization, and regional integration, while tracing the development of Central Asian regional cooperation from the post-Soviet period to the emergence of a more structured regional order. Particular attention is given to regional identity, institutional development, interstate cooperation, and the role of external actors in shaping regional dynamics.
