Abstract

This study presented a simple, novel, and cost-effective method that has become the focus of numerous studies for the removal of heavy metals from real samples (water, plants, and soil) and herbal extracts (black tea, fenugreek, and anise). Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) were prepared and analyzed using various techniques, including UV-Visible, FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and AFM, allowing for the investigation of the nanomaterial's physical and chemical properties. These nanomaterials were used as catalysts for amines. Paroxetine was used as the pharmaceutical amine, as it is classified as an amine due to its active amine group. The nano-catalyzed pharmaceutical amine was used to enhance the efficiency of heavy metal removal from both real and herbal samples. Optimal reaction conditions, including pH, temperature, nanomaterial concentration, and time, were determined to ensure the production of stable and effective particles. This method is characterized by its high efficiency and environmental compatibility, offering an alternative to chemical methods.
