Abstract

The present article investigates semantic, stylistic and pragmatic peculiarities of using French words, expressions, proverbs and speech formulas in the English and Russian literary works. Theoretical content of the article is proved by literary contexts, in which French expressions and proverbs are used with specific semantic, stylistic and pragmatic aim due to the communication act and situation. Besides, English phraseological units originated from the French language, have been analyzed in the article.
