Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of reading as a means of oral speech development in the context of foreign language teaching. The role of reading as an important source of satisfying students' cognitive needs and a means of developing educational and professional motives for learning a foreign language is noted. It emphasizes the necessity of including speech activity in the students' conscious learning activity.
