Abstract

This article examines the methodological essence and substantive content of the concept of “cultural development” in contemporary social and humanitarian sciences. Cultural development is interpreted as a complex social process that reflects qualitative transformations in the spiritual life of society. The paper elucidates its key dimensions, including the transformation of values, the development of social consciousness, the growth of knowledge and educational attainment, the expansion of creative potential, the stability of cultural institutions, and the strengthening of intercultural communication.The study provides a substantive justification of the systemic, historical, institutional, and axiological approaches to the study of cultural development and demonstrates their analytical potential. It is concluded that analyzing cultural development on a comprehensive methodological basis contributes to a deeper understanding of the moral criteria of social progress and supports the improvement of cultural policy as well as educational and critical-reflective thinking practices.
